South Skye Community Campus has received a donation of £500 through the Broadford CO-OP store.
South Skye Community Campus is one of four community groups to receive this donations as a thank you from the supermarket giants following disruption to deliveries caused by a cyber-attack in May.
Spearheaded by our group of trustees & volunteers who are working hard to create a state-of-the-art sports hub, including an all-weather astro pitch, that will serve the south of the island.
Roddy MacLeod, one of the trustees of South Skye Community Campus, said:
“We are gaining momentum with our plans to create this transformational sports hub, with a recent funding award from Sports Scotland and monetary donations towards the project. We’d like to thank our local Co-Op supermarket for their donation and support of this community project.”
The creation of the brand-new sports campus will eliminate the need for local sports groups and teams, including Broadford-based Sleat and Strath AFC and Broadford Youth Club, to travel long distances for appropriate training and game-day facilities. It will also act as a recreational hub for the remote island community. The new facility will be able to accommodate sports such as football, shinty, rugby, and hockey.
