Coming this autumn: The new Synthetic Astro Pitch

The synthetic astro pitch will be open to all sports groups, clubs and associations to book. We look forward to being able to play sport outside, all year round in the south end of Skye. A long time coming. The Pitch will be set out with Football and Hockey lines and goals and posts will be all available.

In time, we do hope to create further facilities adjacent to the astro pitch. Changing rooms and club rooms and there will be space for other community facilities dependant on what the communities’ needs are!

UPDATE:

Great progress is being made on our new astro pitch!

 The project is on schedule after the early site challenges were successfully resolved.

 Drainage and manholes have been installed and are fully operational.

 The pitch hardcore has been laid and compacted.

 4 of the 8 floodlight bases are now in place.

The contractor will be off site for the next two weeks before returning to lay the final sand layer. At the same time, the fencing and floodlighting contractors will begin their work. Work is also continuing to divert the water main in the western corner of the site, with groundworks progressing well and expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Then the pitch laying will commence on August. The team has advised that the most challenging phase of the project is now behind us, so we can look forward to the remaining works progressing smoothly.
