Shirley Grant – Chairperson

Shirley has been a member of Broadford & Strath Community Company since 2011; she is currently a Director and has been involved in many local initiatives. She worked for 18 years with a public agency managing the development of educational software. She has a BSc in Computer Science and post-graduate diplomas in Management and Managing Sustainable Rural Development. Shirley is a keen photographer and loves the outdoors.

Rory Flyn – Vice Chair

Rory is an architect and Director of a local practice. He has extensive professional experience of working with community organisations and on public projects. He is also active in community sport as a coach, and is Chair of the local football club.

Roddy Macleod - Treasurer

Roddy is a Director of Broadford & Strath Community Company, a local on-call firefighter, and the island’s Youth Development Officer through High Life Highland. He has been a football coach at Broadford Youth Club for 15 years and volunteers in the community regularly. Roddy is also a Retained Fire Fighter with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service.

Nicholas Kelly - Trustee

Nicholas studied Amenity Horticulture at Scottish Agricultural College in Ayr and then worked on several country estates before moving back to Skye. Since then he has worked within the community with a number of roles, including local Youth Worker and Project Co-ordinator for Broadford & Strath Community Company. His biggest community project to date has been volunteering to project manage the construction of the grass playing field in Broadford on behalf of Sleat & Strath AFC.

Sarah Yoxon – Trustee

A sports enthusiast and advocate for building a vibrant sporting community, Sarah is passionate about empowering young people and adults to embrace the joys of sports. She is currently working to promote girls’ and women’s football in the area as Chair of the new Skye & Lochalsh Female Football Club. A player in the Skye ladies shinty team and a volunteer leader for Broadford youth club, Sarah is also a committee member of Sleat and Strath Football Club where she takes an active role in the running of the club.

Lorayne Mclucas – Trustee

Lorayne is from Glasgow but has lived and worked on Skye for nearly 20 years. She is a performer and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in arts development in the Highlands and project management. Lorayne currently works as an operations and projects manager for SEALL – Events For All and is also the founder and owner of Lorayne McLucas Performing Arts Academy, LMPA Academy – a performing arts school based in the south end for ages 3 – 18. Lorayne is also part of the current Broadford Village Hall Committee.

David O'Donnell – Trustee

David has diverse experience in the third sector. Currently a Community Councillor with the Broadford & Strath Community Council. Currently a director on the board of Skye & Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations (SLCVO) since 2021. Prior to this role, he was a director of Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust (KLCT), serving on their board and audit committee. Notably, he previously worked as a Finance & Administration officer for KLCT before later transitioning to a board position. David holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Highlands and Islands (UHI)..

Katherine Dibble – Young Person Trustee

Katherine played football and shinty here on Skye since primary school. Working her way through the youths systems at Broadford Youth Club and Skye Camanachd up in Portree. Katherine now plays for the senior women’s shinty team now in the National/Premier division. She has on many occasions help coached and referee both sports throughout high school and since leaving school, gaining a few leadership awards and recognition along the way. After High School Kathrine headed to Edinburgh to undertake an HND in sport coaching and development. Whilst down there Katherine had the chance to play for the Hibernian U19s National Performance team, which was a great opportunity for someone from a small island like Skye.

samuel stewart – Young Person Representative

Samuel Stewart is a pupil at Portree High School, currently in his 4th year. Samuel enjoys football, supports Inverness Caley Thistle and has recently joined Radio Skye’s Youth Space program. Sammy has been running a number of radio shows on South Skye Community Campus’s progress. Also acts as a voice of our young people in the South end.
