Do you care about your community and want to help make South Skye an even better place to live, work and grow? We’d love to hear from you!
South Skye Community Campus (SSCC) is looking for new trustees and volunteers to join us in shaping the future of our community’s sporting, creative and recreational facilities. You don’t need to be an expert or have previous trustee experience. What matters most is that you care about our community, have ideas to share and want to help make a difference.
About South Skye Community Campus
South Skye Community Campus is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) working to improve and manage sporting, creative and recreational facilities for our community. Having just about completed our new all-weather Astro pitch at MacKinnon Park, we’re now looking forward to the next exciting chapter!
There’s still plenty to do behind the scenes, but after all the hard work, challenges and support from our community, it’s fantastic to see the pitch finally taking shape. Now it’s time to look ahead and make the most of this fantastic new facility for our community. ⚽️ Our vision is to create better opportunities for local people to take part in sport, creative activities and community life, without having to travel long distances to access the facilities they need.
Our community has seen significant investment in housing, healthcare and local industry over recent years, but sporting and recreational facilities have not always received the same attention. We believe that investing in community facilities is essential to creating a thriving, sustainable South Skye, helping to attract and retain residents, support local businesses and ensure our communities remain great places to live and work.
This ambitious community project has been in development for more than 10 years and brings together a range of local groups and organisations, including:
- Broadford Primary School Parent Council
- Broadford & Strath Community Council
- Broadford & Strath Community Company
- Sleat and Strath Football Club
- Broadford Village Hall
- Broadford Youth Club
- Skye Camanachd Ladies
- Skye & Lochalsh Female Football Club
In 2025, Broadford Village Hall was brought under the SSCC charity, bringing its management and our wider community ambitions together under one organisation.
Become a trustee – help us make things happen
As a trustee, you’ll join a small, committed team helping to guide SSCC’s existing projects, explore new opportunities and plan for the future needs of South Skye’s communities. We meet regularly on the first Monday of each month to discuss progress, review projects and consider what comes next. We welcome fresh ideas, different perspectives and people who are keen to help us move forward. As a charity trustee, you’ll also help ensure that SSCC is well managed, follows the law and its governing document, uses its resources responsibly and remains financially sustainable. Trustees can also choose to take a particular interest in one of our activities, acting as a point of contact and keeping the board informed about progress, opportunities and challenges.
What skills are we looking for?
We want to build a diverse team of trustees who bring different skills, experiences, backgrounds and ideas, but share a common commitment to improving life in South Skye. Perhaps you have experience in finance, fundraising, project management, construction, sport, community development, communications or business. Perhaps you have skills from your everyday life or simply a passion for helping your community thrive. All of these contributions can be valuable. We’re looking for people who can work collaboratively, listen to others, respect different viewpoints and help the board reach decisions together. We’re looking for people who are willing to contribute what they can and work together towards a shared goal.
Interested? Let’s have a chat!
Becoming a trustee is an opportunity to help shape the future of South Skye and make a lasting difference for local people, families and future generations. If you’re interested but unsure whether trusteeship is right for you, or if you’d prefer to get involved as a volunteer, we’d be delighted to hear from you. There’s no need to have everything figured out before getting in touch. One of our existing trustees would be happy to answer your questions and tell you more about what’s involved.
