MacKinnon Park Update

Oct 22, 2026 | General News

We thought we’d share an update on how the development of our new astro pitch is progressing.

It’s been a challenging summer for outdoor construction, and unfortunately, the weather has had a significant impact on our progress. As a result, we won’t be able to meet our original deadline of the end of this month. With this in mind, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our planned Open Day on 31st October and postpone our celebrations until the spring.

Our fantastic team of volunteers continues to work hard behind the scenes, and with the weather remaining so unpredictable, we’re now looking ahead to hosting a Sports Gala Day in April, when we hope to have much more to share and celebrate with everyone.

In the meantime, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed (and praying!) for some better weather over the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for further updates, including the launch of our booking system, which will allow clubs, groups and members of the community to start pencilling in their slots in the coming weeks. We hope to be playing on it in the near future! We’re really looking forward to getting things underway as soon as possible and welcoming everyone to MacKinnon Park’s new astro pitch.

We’re also hoping to have the path to school open as soon as possible. However, with construction taking longer than originally planned, we need to make sure the path is safe for everyone to use before it can reopen. The good news is that work on the path is well underway, and we’re hopeful that it will be completed soon.

Thank you for your continued patience, support and understanding. We can’t wait to see you all there!
